Asude Foundation envisions to provide holistic education for every child in India.

About Us

The Marathi word ‘asude’ means “acceptance”, our core value which guides us to:
“Accept the things that we cannot change, and have the courage to change the things we can.”

Inception:

Asude Foundation was born during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis in 2020, where we witnessed an unprecedented disruption in school education across India. This limited learning opportunities for children, especially the underprivileged.
The challenges urged us to look for solutions to facilitate lifelong learning opportunities for children: “शाळा बंद आहेत, पण शिक्षण चालु असुदे!”

Location:

We are working in Aurangabad (Officially known as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), the divisional headquarters of Marathwada region, one of the most chronically drought affected and rainfall deficit regions in India.

The Problem

Lack of career awareness and life skills amongst adolescents from marginalised communities in more than 1.5 million schools in India which leads to a poor transition from learning to livelihood.

India Perspective:

Only 21.2% of the workforce is skilled in India. (UNDP Human Development Report 2020).

More than 12 million young girls and boys are expected to enter India’s labour force every year for the next two decades (UNICEF).

45% of secondary grade students are enrolled in government schools across the country. (UDISE 2020-21)

Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher secondary level (Grades 11-12) is only 53.8%.

Aurangabad Perspective:

Less than 44% students are able to link their career aspirations with education streams available after Grade 10.

82% of parents are school dropouts, which means that students are mostly first generation learners.

Students in Municipal schools come from low-income households such as farmers, brick-kiln workers, construction labourers, daily wage labourers and blue collar workers.

Students lack the role models and exposure to careers beyond their communities.

Our Programs

North Star Program:

Inspired by the brightest shining star and a source of constant direction, our flagship the North Star Program aims to be the guiding light in the lives of government school students in Grade 9 & 10.

The program is designed to provide career awareness and build life skills necessary to achieve a student’s career aspirations.

Become A Volunteer

Teacher Development Program:

Building capabilities of government school teachers to develop their skills as Career Counsellors. This initiative enables teachers to provide systematic career guidance, helping students navigate their educational and professional futures.

Education Leadership Development Program:

Targeting the leadership capabilities of government education officials, this program includes Education Officers, Teacher Mentors, and Headteachers. It focuses on empowering them to facilitate linkages with industries in the local economy, thereby enhancing the educational ecosystem.

Asude Foundation was appointed in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation's Core Committee for Quality Education in August 2022.
